What is the European Physical Society (EPS)?

The European Physical Society is a forum of physicists to exchange ideas. EPS publishes journals (EurophysicsNews - EPN, EurophysicsLetters - EPL, European Journal of Physics, Europhysics conference abstracts, organizes conferences and promote Physics in Europe.

The EPS plays an important role in enhancing communication among physicists in europe, and in bringing major issues in physics and science to the attention of the general public and policy makers.

Over 3.000 individuals members, 41 national physical societies, and 50 universities, research laboratories and companies active in physics research make up the EPS membership. This members ecide the priorities of the Society, allocate resources for its activities and hold the positions of responsability. This ensures that the actions of the society are determinated by its members.

EPS has 11 Divisions, covering each of the specific fields of physics research. The 7 Groups look at questions of common interest for all physicists such as Physics for Developmet, and technology.
