Visa request

Foreign visitors entering Austria must be in possession of a valid ID or passport. EU nationals, in general, do not require a visa, however most other non-Austrian participants do. Please click here to find out whether you need a visa or not to enter into Austria. Delegates from countries requiring visas should apply to the Austrian consular offices or diplomatic missions in their home countries.

Those who need a visa must satisfy the visa requirements of their local Austrian Embassy/Consulate including

  • An invitation letter (fill out the yellow field and return for the final signature).
  • A confirmed travel booking, including flight, train and/or bus bookings, hotel reservation and health insurance.
  • A confirmed order for their online registration as well as any special local requirements.

The invitation letter will only be sent to contributors having submitted a contribution. The reference of the paper will be asked. Therefore, all intended participants should first register for NANOMETA 2019.
In order to receive the invitation letter, please pre-fill the template and return it to the European Physical Society for the final signature and stamp.

The filled out invitation letter must be taken, along with the conference on line registration confirmation and all travel documents to the Austrian Mission (Embassy or Consulate) responsible for their present place of residence to apply for a visa.

Be aware that for some countries, even a month is needed to get the visa.

Invitation letters are returned via email.
Upon a special request, an express air mail at extra cost can be done. This service will be invoiced 90,-€ to be paid in advance.
