WELCOME to NANOMETA-2026

Seefeld in Tirol, Austria

Welcome

Overview

Established since 2007, this unique topical meeting features the latest breakthroughs in the field of Nanophotonics and Metamaterials.

The European Physical Society will organise the 10th International Topical Meeting on Nanophotonics and Metamaterials (NANOMETA-2026), which will take place in Seefeld, Tirol, Austria, from Tuesday 6 (morning) to Friday 9 January (all day) 2026. This will be the 10th meeting in the series, following earlier ones held in January 2007, 2009, 2011, 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019, March 2022, and January 2024, which were attended by many top experts in the field.

NANOMETA aims to bring together the international nanotechnology, photonics and materials research communities where most recent and challenging results and plans are discussed in the informal setting of a glorious mountaineering resort.

Beyond the broader theme of nanotechnology, photonics and materials, the topical focus of NANOMETA-2026 will be on:

    • Plasmonics and metamaterials.
    • Time and temporal crystals
    • Fisher information in photonics.
    • Symmetry breaking in photonics
    • Topological light and matter.
    • Advanced nanophotonic applications.

A special session will be organised to celebrate Sir Michael Berry’s seminal contributions to the physics of waves and topology.

Nanometa-2026 will feature plenary, invited and breakthrough talks. The technical programme will also include selected contributed papers in these areas. Poster sessions will also take place.

The conference will be organised in two oral parallel sessions (Nanophotonics and Metamaterials). The conference timetable will be arranged in a way that permits mid-day breaks for recreational activities and informal contact between participants.
